so i have been a bit sidetracked the last few days!    my first real florida hurricane was coming…    i lined up all my water, had the generator checked, storm shutters put up, brought in the patio furniture and most importantly checked out my landline!!

Too FUNNY!!

Yoga…

o… some you know.. i am big into yoga!     since moving to Florida have not been able to practice as much as i like.. but… with September coming i just found out my yoga studio has a new teacher starting… very exciting!!

i prefer ashtanga yoga which is also sometimes called power yoga…  it is more strength building and stretching for flexibility than some of the more meditative versions.    in ashtanga you will really sweat and a ninety minute workout is pretty intense even for the strongest athlete!    i do ashtanga on my own once-twice a week and in studio to kripali which is more meditative - it is important to practice with a teacher so you dont develop bad habits.   Unfortunately;  there is no ashtanga studio here.

so in answer to the question that everyone asks… yes i can put my foot behind my head!     it is actually not that hard and after an hour of stretching is easy!!!   The hardest thing for me is the balances, like dancer… on one foot, holding your other ankle as you lean over at the waist!

have actually been thinking about my workout routine lots lately…  with September the early spin classes start up, so will do spin three days a week, which i really enjoy… starts your day off very empowered.    i moved a few months ago and my new home has a pool, but also there is a large lap pool a few blocks away… as soon as the summmer steamies end am going to try to add some laps in the am when dont spin…   then yoga 4-5 nights a week…   will make for one sexy katie!

well today is the last day of vacation…   travelling today and got to the airport early early.. and breezed right through to the gate!!     Will wave bye bye to New England and hello to Florida in a few hours…   i already miss the lobstah!

i have two decisions have been mulling over…

Gosh yesterday was a busy.. left before dawn and drove to Boston for haircut.. i know that sounds terribly vein…. but i have a truly dear friend who is my hairdresser and i enjoy not only her company but she is a great hairdresser!    I was telling her all about my new lil venture on the phone… she was telling me about all the toys she has… even more than katie!!!

Driving back i stopped in Kennebunkport, meeting my sisters and we had massages and pedicures and was just a delicious morning of pampering… followed by wine and lobstah rolls!

Yesterday was the laziest day yet… spent the day on the beach, read three magazines… (O, Forbes and Smithsonian - how is that for diversity!) Played bocci and wiffleball with the boys (my nephews) and had a few big boys join us. One “gentleman” played with us for a long while, till his wife sent their twin four year olds down to get him, gosh some grown men can blush!

In the afternoon was buried in the sand, managing to get sand EVERYWHERE!!! A quick swim out deep… slipping my suit off for a moment remedied that! Did i mention the water is only about 68F!

As part of a family deal every one picks dinner and makes it for the night. Last night was my brother-in-law grilled steaks! Nice wine, steaks… yummy… and more wine!! Then we walked down to the local ice cream parlour, and all had ice cream… then more wine! The ice cream parlour has been there since early 1900s, they make their own ice cream. Last night i had a double cone of Caramel Carabou!

Today… tough day… yet another beach day. have to go put on my bikini… breaking out the red one today!! that should annoy some wifeys in the afternoon wiffleball tournament!

Today is the first day i am writing in my new blog! i have thought and thought… should i start with a bit of history or just start where i am… i decided to just start on today and fill in history as i go!

Today i am in Maine on vacation with my extended family. Limited internet access gives me a bit of alone time… not that i dont love my family, but seems like every sentence begins with “auntie katie will you buy me…”. Last night we walked to the pier, built in 1865, and then around the honky tonk amusement park.
